Recycling With A Purpose

Eureka Recycling, in partnership with the City of Saint Paul, has opened a recycling processing facility at 2828 Kennedy Street in Minneapolis. At a material recovery facility—or MRF—recyclable materials are sorted, prepared, and then shipped to various markets. Eureka Recycling’s new recycling facility will process up to 60,000 tons of residential recycling materials per year, including newspapers, junk mail, cans, bottles and boxes.

This endeavor is part of a long-term plan to ensure that Saint Paul’s materials are being recycled for their highest and best use for years to come. Eureka Recycling holds a 10-year contract with the City of Saint Paul to handle Saint Paul’s recyclables. By operating its own collection fleet and MRF, Eureka Recycling can make sure that recycling costs remain steady in Saint Paul for the duration of that contract and all proceeds from recycling are reinvested back into the community. With the opening of the MRF, the stage is set for Eureka Recycling to demonstrate the true costs and benefits of recycling.

Our Paper Partner
Abitibi-Consolidated, the world’s leading producer of newsprint, recycles over three million tons of paper each year. Now, that will include the paper that is sorted and prepared at Eureka Recycling’s MRF. Through this private-nonprofit partnership, which is formalized in a 10-year agreement, Eureka Recycling is guaranteed a long-term, stable price for newspaper. In turn Abitibi-Consolidated will receive a steady flow of high quality materials for their paper recycling operations.
