Background
Eureka Recycling is a local, nonprofit organization that specializes in recycling and waste reduction. Eureka Recycling believes that waste is preventable, not inevitable, and provides cutting-edge, economically sustainable programs that serve the Twin Cities metro area, including the Twin Cities Free Market, the Recycled Products Co-op, event recycling, compost workshops, and more. Eureka Recycling’s services, program and advocacy efforts are designed to be cost-effective while ensuring the greatest environmental benefits. Eureka Recycling is actively working to create a movement of individuals, organization, businesses, and governments that understand the benefits of composting and its important role in achieving zero waste.

For over ten years, Eureka Recycling has coordinated zero-waste events in the Twin Cities, including the Wishes for the Sky, Rock the Garden, Tour de Fat, Saint Paul Bike Classic and the Northland Bioneers Conference. Because of Eureka Recycling’s education, waste-reduction, recycling, and composting services, over 40 events in 2009, attended by over 60,000 people, were able to divert 96% of the discards generated to recycling and composting.
