Lawnsign Volunteers

Starting after Earth Day (April 22), Eureka Recycling will begin collecting recycling in every neighborhood every week. Weekly collection means that it will be much easier to remember which day to set out recycling, leaving little purpose for the lawnsign volunteer program in its current format. But wait! Don’t recycle those lawnsigns just yet! We need your help one last time.

As we switch to weekly collection (and change collections days in Districts Seven and Sixteen), we need your help to communicate the change to your neighborhood.  Here’s how to do it:

1. Display your lawnsign.
After April 22, leave your lawnsign out every day, every week, and all month until it falls apart. Then recycle it! Displaying your lawnsign reminds your neighbors that they can recycle every week. If you need a new lawnsign, you can pick one up at your community council, or call our hotline at (651) 222-7678 for help.

2. Set out materials by 7 a.m.
This is more important than ever since the recycling routes will be changing and our trucks will be coming through your neighborhood at different times than you may be used to. Be sure to leave your recycling out all day since our routes may also run late during our transition to weekly.

3. Talk to your neighbors.
If you or your neighbors have questions, you can always call our recycling hotline (651) 222-7678 (SORT), which is staffed with trained specialists who can answer all your recycling and waste reduction questions.

lawn signSince 1986, lawnsign volunteers have been a great asset to Saint Paul’s recycling program. While the lawnsign volunteer program is coming to an end, your efforts to reduce waste and care for the environment are just as critical as ever. As a nonprofit, community-based organization, Eureka Recycling offers numerous programs and services, as well as opportunities for you to stay active. Click on any of the options below to send us an email to sign up. Please include your contct information!

  • Get updates on the recycling program. Let us know if you would like to continue to receive updates, like this one, about the recycling program.
  • Stay informed about important issues. As one of the largest nonprofit recyclers in the nation, Eureka Recycling is a leader in shaping recycling and waste management policy. We track national, regional and local developments on numerous issues and we use our expertise to advocate for practices that are good for the environment. Click this option if you would like us to send you action alerts, in-depth updates and information on specific issues or details on efforts we are taking to improve the environment in Saint Paul.
  • Tour our recycling facility. Later this year, Eureka Recycling hopes to provide tours of our facility to Saint Paul recyclers. Since there are many safety considerations, we are unsure of when we will offer tours, but we want you to be among the first of our visitors to see what happens to your recycling when it leaves the curb! Let us know if you want us to contact you when our tours are ready.
  • Volunteer at community events. Eureka Recycling provides event recycling at a number of community events throughout the year, like the Living Green Expo (April 31 and May 1, 2005) and the Saint Paul Bike Classic event (September 11, 2005). We may be providing recycling services at a community festival or event in your neighborhood. Click this option if you would like information about how to help.
  • Other ideas. Are there ways you want to be involved that we haven’t thought of yet? Please share your ideas with us!

Thank you for your continued involvement, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Contact us if you are interested in adopting a recycling lawnsign for your block. Let us know if you're interested in volunteering in other ways as well!
